Atlassian’s guide has a plain tip: when you find a prompt that works for a task, save it, and next time only add the new details. Skill Builder’s prompt library does that, with a few extras.
Save a prompt
In Promptor, choose Save to library. Give it a title and a short description of when you would use it. Pick an icon and colour so it stands out in the list, and choose which AI it is written for. It is stored in this browser, and it is part of a full backup.
Use variables for what changes
Write {{name}} where a part changes each time. When you copy the prompt from the library, you fill in the variables and get the finished text.
Write a release announcement for {{product}}, for {{audience}}.
Keep it under 120 words and end with one call to action.
Notes:
"""
{{notes}}
"""
A long or multi-line value is put inside triple quotes for you, unless the prompt already marks where it goes. That keeps pasted text from reading as instructions.
Link it to your work
A prompt can belong to a project, and to one skill or agent in it. The link shows on the card, and you can open the project from there. If the project is deleted, the prompt stays and says the project is no longer there.
Bring prompts with a project
When you export a project file, choose to include the prompts linked to it. They come back linked to the imported copy. The option is off by default, because a prompt can hold private text and the file is what other people receive.
Review a saved prompt
From a prompt’s menu, choose Review in Promptor to check it again, change it and save it. Connect AI can also read your saved prompts and suggest changes: see Review a prompt with Connect AI.
Keep them tidy
- Start the title with the task: “Release notes”, not “Prompt 3”.
- Say in the description when to use it and who it is for.
- Keep one version of each. Duplicate a prompt to try a variation.
- Delete the ones you no longer use.
- Never save keys or personal data in a prompt: Promptor refuses text that looks like a real key.
When a prompt becomes a skill
If a saved prompt grows steps, rules and examples, or you find yourself pasting it into every conversation, turn it into a skill. See Prompts, skills, agents and instructions.
