Promptor helps you write clearer prompts and learn why they work. It runs in your browser, works offline, and keeps what you type on your device until you choose to save it.
Choose who it is for
Pick Works with: All, Claude, ChatGPT or Copilot. The tips and the way a built prompt is written change a little for each, and All keeps to advice that holds for every one. Turn on Reasoning model if you are writing for one that thinks before it answers.
Build a prompt
Open Build a prompt. Start from an example, such as Summarise, Write, Extract data, Review code or Make a plan, or fill in the parts yourself:
- Goal: what it should do.
- Audience: who the result is for.
- Background: what it needs to know.
- Format and length: what the answer looks like.
- Under More parts: steps, rules, an example, and the text to work on.
The prompt is written beside the form as you type, with tags for Claude and headings for the others. Use {{variables}} for parts that change.
Review a prompt you already have
Open Review a prompt and paste it, or use Try an example. Feedback appears as you type:
- A checklist: goal, audience, background, format, example and whether it is safe to share.
- Fix first: the few things that should change before you use it, such as a real key in the text.
- Consider: suggestions, each with a Why? that gives the reason, the fix and the sources.
- Already good: what the prompt does well.
The checks look for missing parts and weak habits. They can not judge whether a prompt is good. Try the colleague test: would someone who has never seen the task be able to do it without asking you anything?
Check it against a project
Choose Check against a project to see which of its skills and agents fit your task. This is a hint based on names and descriptions, so read it as a nudge.
Save it
Choose Save to library. Give it a title, a description, an icon and colour, and optionally a project, skill or agent to keep it with. Find it in the Library under Prompts, where you can copy it (filling in variables), edit it, review it again, duplicate it or delete it. See Reusable prompts and variables.
Ask your AI tool for a review
With Connect AI, run /review-prompt in your AI tool for a full review that also reads your project. See Review a prompt with Connect AI.
Where the advice comes from
OpenAI, Atlassian, GitHub and Anthropic. Where they differ, the finding says which one it follows. Start with How to write a clear prompt.
